Got an early start today as I knew it would warm up quickly. It got really hot today. My blisters got worse. Went through some pretty areas though and took a much needed swim at Mirror lake.
Tonight I’m camped at mile 2374 on an abandoned logging track about 100 yards from a nice spring. Apparently, about a quarter mile down the same road at a turnaround is where everybody else is camped.
I’m camped on a little ridge at the northern base of Blowout mountain. My tent is mere inches from the trail this time! I’m at mile 2355.3 which means I did 20 miles today!
I did about 17 grueling but beautiful miles today. I found a spot next to a huge talus field full of pikas. I thought this would be a low concentration bug area as it hasn’t been as bad north of Chinook pass.
Did about 18 miles today and I’m camped at Dewey lake. I’m fully suited up after taking a brief dunk in the lake. Tons of bugs here at this nice sandy lakeshore but even worse up at camp.
Round three of the PCT began today. Starting at White Pass this afternoon around 3 pm when my lovely wife dropped me off. Not too bad of a start, a little warm and kind of dusty, and horse poopy.
Actually it’s the next day from home, but it was a long day yesterday. Broke camp at 6:30! Made it up to Three Corner Rock and back to the PCT by 8:00 am.
Well, I’m finally back on the PCT! After a nice day in Cascade Locks and dinner in Stevenson my wonderful wife dropped me off in Stabler at the start of a 30 mile southbound adventure back to Cascade Locks and hopefully, my fully intact car.
Actually it’s the next day but who’s keeping track. My dry spot didn’t stay dry for very long. After setting up camp it started sprinkling again.
Managed to break camp around 9 am or so after waiting for the rain to stop so I could pack up the tent. It rained off and on all night but I managed to stay dry.
